#Yankees Demolish Red Sox Pitching

BRONX, NEW YORK, (BRONX NEWS SPORTS)- The Yankees raised their post-All-Star game record to 12-5 after a 13-3 win over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday nightat Yankee Stadium. The victory solidified the Yanks hold on first place in the American League Eastern division. 

The largest Yankee Stadium crowd of the current season, 54,522, came to watch the Yankees face their most bitter rival, even though the Red Sox are in last place in the A.L. East and trailed the Yankees by 13 games at the start of the three game series.

The Yankees have in recent games again earned the nickname the Bronx Bombers for their prolific batting. They have scored a total of 59 runs in their last four wins, and have a total of 90 runs scored in their last 10 games. The New Yorkers have homered in each of their last 10 games, and are second in the majors in home runs this season with 144. 

Boston starting pitcher Henry Owens, in his major league debut, yielded a run in the first inning after two singles and a base on balls. The run was the 92nd scored by the Yankees in the first inning this year, the highest total of any MLB club in any inning. The good start usually leads to a Yankees victory as their mark this year after scoring in the first is 32-11.

Mark Teixeira’s RBI single in that frame extended his streak of reaching base successfully to 21 straight games. He drove in his 76th run of the se4ason with a single in the sixth.

According to Yankees skipper Joe Girardi, “Production has been up and down the lineup.” The facts are in accord with Girardi’s opinion. In the eight road games prior to the start of the current homestand, the bottom of the batting order (batters 6-9) batted .397 (50 for 126 with 37 RBI. On Tuesday night, batters 2-5 went 9 for 17 with 11 of the 13 RBI. 

The Yankees took the final lead with three runs on four hits in the sixth and topped that achievement with nine runs on six hits in the seventh. Two three runs homers were struck in the seventh, Chris Young’s 13th of the season and Brian McCann’s 18th.  McCann, who has belted 12 in the stadium while during in 39 runs and batting .301 with a slugging percentage of .618, gave credit to his teammates, “We worked some great at bats that inning. We’re getting in great at bats up and down the lineup.” 

Chase Headley, with two singles, extended his hitting streak to 12 straight games and his average during those dozen contests to .435. He also credited others, “You win as a team and you lose as a team.

The focus of Wednesday night’s game may be on pitching as Luis Severino will make his major league debut with the Yanks.
